Have you ever heard the phrase “fight the good fight of the faith” and wondered how this mixes with the message of grace? I sure have. I mean if God’s love for me has nothing to do with how I’m doing, why do I need to fight to live any differently?
No one willingly lives in rags when they have riches.
Consider this. If you were homeless your whole life, and suddenly given 100 million dollars, would you use it and enjoy it? Or would you let it sit in the bank and continue to live on the streets? No one willingly lives in rags when they have riches. So it is with God.
