These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
– Colossians 2:17
Glimpses of God’s grace are everywhere. We can choose to ignore it, worship it, or enjoy it for what it is–as a shadow of the gospel of Jesus Christ–and worship the substance that casts that shadow.
In this season of life my days are filled with repeated tasks and seemingly mundane moments that easily consume my life. Whether it be dealing with explosive diapers and troubleshooting nap schedules or documenting sweet sibling moments and celebrating milestones, my focus often stops at what the naked eye can see rather than seeing past it to worship Jesus.
Perhaps you can relate.
While we must fix our eyes and worship the one who is ultimate over the shadows, I also think that shadows of the gospel are meant to be enjoyed. I love being a daughter, wife, mother, and friend. I love being a Pure Barre teacher, children’s book pusher, pencilligraphy artist, and baby sleep enthusiast. While I can’t look to those things for ultimate fulfillment, they are good gifts from the Lord that are meant to be enjoyed; so I write about them.
My hope for this blog is that it would be well balanced, as a source of encouragement for the soul and hold practical tips for life.
